    This Internal Control and Financial Management Consultant role will support a Government agency that is responsible for safeguarding America's borders thereby protecting the public from dangerous people and materials while enhancing the Nation's global economic competitiveness by enabling legitimate trade and travel. You will operate in a broader team of other consulting professionals and subject matter experts that are working together to support the Agency’s internal control, risk management, financial management/operations, and other related needs. You will participate in efforts to evaluate significant business operations and processes and their associated internal controls, as well as conduct risk assessments, develop corrective action plans, and identify and help implement process improvements to address gaps and inefficiencies.



    • Minimum Years of Experience: 4+
    • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.)
    • Clearance: Ability to obtain Public Trust from client Agency
    • 4+ years of experience evaluating/testing internal controls, performing financial statement audits (preferably for a Government agency), or providing audit readiness support
    • Knowledge of and/or experience with accounting, financial statements, and financial reporting concepts
    • Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and basic/core functions


    • Understanding of and experience conducting internal control assessments and testing in accordance with OMB Circular A-123, Appendix A requirements
    • Experience working in teams to produce high-impact work products, reports, and other deliverables
    • Knowledge of and/or experience working with data analytics and visualization tools, such as R, Python, and Tableau
    • Possesses strong oral and written communication skills
    • Heightened attention to detail, and the ability to create and edit technical and non-technical written work products and graphical presentations
    • Experience and demonstrated ability to participate in client-facing discussions and meetings
    • Ability to synthesize information quickly and learn new skills


    Degree(s) Preferred:  Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration


    Certification(s) Preferred:  Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Governmental Financial Manager (CGFM)


    Knowledge Preferred:

    • Demonstrates the ability to understand client needs, participate within a team environment, and communicate throughout internal and external network in a manner that allows for successful execution of tasks.
    • Willingness to learn and participate in business development activities and reinvest in internal Guidehouse activities and operations.
