    Our consultants help FEMA recovery efforts with (1) technical assistance to develop projects that support the restoration and mitigation of infrastructure, public facilities and services, (2) develop innovative methods, approaches, ideas, and guidance to providing technical assistance to advance FEMA’s goals of reducing disaster losses and simplifying the grant process, and (3) provide efficient and effective management and administration of the overall project to ensure timely deployment of trained and qualified professionals, high quality services, and exceptional customer service, while adhering to budget and schedule constraints.


    Biologists are deployed as Environmental and Historic Preservation (EHP) Specialists. They ensure that any proposed project actions comply with environmental and floodplain laws, regulations, and executive orders. This may include conducting site inspections, environmental assessments and writing environmental impact statements.







    • Bachelor’s degree in Biology
    • Minimum of 5 years of full-time professional experience* in Biology with a professional certification, or 10 years of professional experience* without a professional certification.
    • Must be computer literate and proficient with MS Office Suite applications (Word, Excel)
    • Valid driver’s license required



    *Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and provides valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment



    • Experience conducting environmental assessments and environmental impact statements
    • Familiarity with environmental and floodplain laws, regulations, and executive orders
    • FEMA Pubic Trust Clearance within last 12 months
    • Knowledge and understanding of FEMA Public Assistance Program and related policies
    • Knowledge of Emergency Management Mission Integrated Environment (EMMIE) or Grants Manager
    • Strong critical thinking, written, and oral communication skills
    • Ability to work independently or in teams
